Lets do a write up of my editing ways! What some call “workflow”.
It goes a little something like this: Camera (RAW Image File) > Upload to Mac > Image adjustments > Export in Jpeg Format
What do I use to edit my images?
Adobe Lightroom (LR) – Works the best for me. I don’t need a lot of editing options and the ease of use in LightRoom is amazing.
Setup @ work
Adobe Creative Suite 5 (CS5) – This suite includes multiple different programs but the ones I use most often are Photoshop and Illustrator. The only reasons I got into Photoshop is for Vanity/eVanity with the editing I have to do for them which requires layers etc… Illustrator is a must for any type of Layout work. Photoshop is something that you can learn the basics on your own but sitting down with a person who knows Photoshop or taking a class is greatly advised. Illustrator… take a class

There are quite a few other programs out there for editing and more and more are being created. It will come down to sitting down with the trials they offer and finding out which one suits you best. Some only use Photoshop. I use Lightroom. Personal choice.
What do I edit on?
At Vanity/eVanity and at mJoy Photography I luckily have the same setup in both places!
27″ iMac with a Wacom Intuos 4 tablet – I also have a 13″ Macbook pro that gets used quite a bit when I don’t want to be in the office or studio and want to be close to my wife and kid while editing I will edit on the notebook. Tip: Do NOT go out and buy a graphic pen like the Wacom Intuos or bamboo lines without trying them first. They aren’t for everyone but for me personally… couldn’t live without it.
Tip: Music! Such a great tool to keep you going while editing. Most definitely while editing big jobs like wedding photos that take a while because of the amount of shooting that happens throughout the day. Here is my *tip*… Be careful on which genre of music is playing! You may not completely notice that the type of music that is playing has an effect on technique. This may be just me, but I know if I am editing Hockey or other sports… I like to have a faster tempo song. Weddings or portraits I tend to put on more of a classical feel. Something to think about the next time you are editing wedding photos with Slayer playing in the background
